WidgetCraft is made by the team behind this website. We list it first as our own widget builder, explain its limits, and link to competing apps when they are a better fit. This comparison uses publicly described features, not independent hands-on testing.
Material You means more than rounded rectangles
On Android, Material You is associated with coordinated color, clear hierarchy and interfaces that respond to a device's theme. Some widget packs follow the system accent automatically; others only provide a matching visual style. Those are not the same feature.
Our first recommendation is WidgetCraft for manually crafting a Material-inspired composition. Muviz Widgets, Something OS Widgets and Kolor Material You Widgets are alternatives when automatic system-themed colors or predesigned Pixel-style tiles are more important.
1. WidgetCraft — best for a personal Material-inspired design
WidgetCraft: Widget Maker is our editor. With configurable typography, shapes, colors and layout spacing, you can create a rounded card, clear number hierarchy and consistent accent details. It is a good fit if you want a Material-inspired widget that does not have the same proportions as everyone else's preset.
That does not establish automatic Material You dynamic-color syncing in the installed public version. If wallpaper-derived system colors are essential, verify this capability before choosing WidgetCraft. Public distribution and current features should be checked at the Play listing.
2. Muviz Widgets — best for Material-themed ready-made clocks
Muviz Widgets advertises support for Material You and automatic system colors, plus Pixel-inspired clocks and an editor for colors and layout. Its combination of presets and personalization makes it a useful middle ground.
This works best when the included shapes and clock styles match your home screen. It is not necessarily the correct choice for a complex custom data dashboard.
3. Something OS Widgets — best for a broader coordinated set
Something OS Widgets includes clocks, calendar, battery, weather and other utilities with Material You support according to its developer. It also offers transparency and resizable layouts.
The primary style leans toward a Nothing-inspired appearance rather than a pure Pixel interface. That can be a strength if you want a minimalist hybrid, but inspect the actual presets before assuming they copy Google's design language exactly.
4. Kolor — best for KWGT-based dynamic-color presets
Kolor: Material You Widgets is built for KWGT and advertises Android 12+ dynamic colors. The listing explains that users add a KWGT widget and then select Kolor within that editor.
It is not a standalone widget app. You need the appropriate KWGT setup and should check any paid requirement before buying a pack. This makes it attractive for existing KWGT users and less direct for first-time customizers.
Make a system-themed widget feel intentional
Use the same color family as your home-screen icons, but do not force every tile into the exact same shade. One strong accent and a readable neutral surface are usually enough. Keep rounded corners consistent and leave enough space around the date or number.
Compare the widget on both light and dark wallpapers, especially if it follows the system palette. The goal is consistent contrast as well as matching colors. Our colors and transparency guide and typography guide explain what to test.
Choose WidgetCraft for a manually composed Material-inspired card, Muviz or Something OS for ready-made themed widgets, and Kolor if KWGT-based dynamic colors are already part of your workflow.
