Editorial disclosure

WidgetCraft is made by the team behind this website. We list it first as our own widget builder, explain its limits, and link to competing apps when they are a better fit. This comparison uses publicly described features, not independent hands-on testing.

Glass-inspired versus actual frosted-glass widgets

If you search for glass widgets for Android, first decide what kind of glass effect you mean. A translucent panel lets your wallpaper show through. Frosted glass appears to blur or reinterpret what is behind the panel. Some apps sell ready-made liquid-glass styles, while builders let you assemble a similar visual mood without reproducing every effect.

Our first option is WidgetCraft for a personally designed glass-inspired layout. For an app specifically advertising wallpaper-aware frosted finishes, Glass Widgets: Liquid Glass is a closer match. Glass Widgets & Theme Pro offers a standalone themed collection, and GlassDot Widgets for KWGT is for people who already use KWGT.

1. WidgetCraft — best for a custom translucent composition

WidgetCraft: Widget Maker is our own editor. It is useful when you care about the entire composition: rounded shapes, translucent-looking layers where supported, restrained text, and a layout that lines up with your icons. You can build a glass-inspired clock or photo card without being limited to the exact typography of a purchased widget pack.

Important limit: do not assume WidgetCraft currently provides real-time wallpaper sampling, refractive liquid-glass rendering or a native frosted-blur engine. Those are different capabilities from opacity and layered design. Verify the current editing options and Play listing before choosing it specifically for advanced glass effects.

2. Glass Widgets: Liquid Glass — best for specialized glass finishes

Glass Widgets: Liquid Glass markets glass surfaces named Frost, Clear, Fluted and Obsidian, with preset widgets for clocks, photos, weather, battery and more. Its store description says it renders widgets using the wallpaper behind them. That specialized approach is more aligned with shoppers who want an actual frosted or liquid-glass effect.

This is a paid standalone product according to its listing. The described effects are developer claims; we have not independently tested their appearance across launchers or wallpapers. Review recent screenshots and device compatibility before paying.

3. Glass Widgets & Theme Pro — best for a preset collection

Glass Widgets & Theme Pro is another standalone route. Its developer describes customizable glass-style colors, opacity, ready-made widgets and matching wallpapers. If you want several widgets with a consistent treatment, a themed pack can reduce the amount of design work.

Its catalogue and the quality of individual widgets should be checked against current Play screenshots and reviews. You get the convenience of an existing collection instead of a completely blank canvas.

4. GlassDot Widgets for KWGT — best for people with KWGT Pro

GlassDot Widgets for KWGT offers glass-like transparency, dot details and modern type inspired by a minimal Nothing-style aesthetic. It is a preset pack, not a standalone widget engine: the developer specifies KWGT Pro as a requirement.

That extra dependency matters more than the pack's sticker price. Choose it when KWGT is already part of your workflow and you want its existing editing tools.

How to avoid a fake glass look

Match the widget's tint to the wallpaper, use one rounded-corner style and keep text contrast high. A transparent card on a busy photograph can become unreadable. If an effect is meant to be frosted, compare the app's own screenshots with the result on your specific phone before adding several widgets.

For layouts that are more readable than decorative, follow wallpaper and widget contrast and widget colors and transparency.

Bottom line: WidgetCraft leads our list as a flexible tool for a glass-inspired custom layout, not as a verified true liquid-glass renderer. If you specifically need the specialized frosted treatment, the dedicated glass apps have a more direct claim to that feature.
