WidgetCraft is made by the team behind this website. We list it first as our own widget builder, explain its limits, and link to competing apps when they are a better fit. This comparison uses publicly described features, not independent hands-on testing.
A calendar widget can be a schedule or a design element
Someone searching for a calendar widget often wants one of two things: actual upcoming events on the screen, or a stylish date and month display. If you need meeting reminders, the quality of synchronization matters more than the choice of typography. A decorative date card can be built without connecting a calendar account.
We list WidgetCraft first for designing date-focused widgets. For reliable access to an existing Google schedule, Google Calendar is the straightforward choice. Business Calendar 2 and aCalendar offer more calendar-specific layout options.
1. WidgetCraft — best for a customized date-first widget
WidgetCraft: Widget Maker is our app, with editable date/time elements and visual layout controls. You can build a prominent weekday and date, combine them with shapes or a progress indicator, and make the widget fit the rest of your screen.
If you need live calendar events, confirm that the app version you can install supports the required calendar data connection and permission flow. The project has worked on optional calendar data support, but that is not a promise of production-ready synchronization across every account. Check the current Play listing before choosing it for a business agenda.
2. Google Calendar — best for an existing Google schedule
Google Calendar offers a schedule widget and a month-view widget, as described in Google's official setup guide. It is the practical default if your appointments already appear in Google Calendar.
A normal calendar app gives you event management as well as a home-screen view. That is more important than decorative flexibility if missed appointments would cause problems.
3. Business Calendar 2 — best for multiple calendar views
Business Calendar 2 advertises a range of calendar widgets such as month, week, day, tasks and agenda. This makes it worth considering when the built-in Google widget shows too little of your day or you want to tune density and displayed information.
The app has its own calendar interface and synchronization options. If you only need a small visual date card, it may offer more functionality than necessary. Check which widget options are free versus paid.
4. aCalendar — best for a configurable calendar suite
aCalendar includes calendar views and a set of widgets according to its Play listing. It is useful when you want to experiment with agenda and month layouts while retaining a conventional calendar application.
As with any calendar app, verify which account and calendars are selected and whether event permissions are granted. An apparently empty widget can reflect the wrong source rather than a broken design.
Two home-screen layouts that work well
For busy weekdays, use a medium or tall agenda widget with the next event visible without scrolling. Put a simple clock nearby if the calendar does not already show the time. For monthly planning, use a wider month grid and leave space below for two frequently used app shortcuts.
Use the calendar-first home-screen guide to choose a layout. If events fail to appear, see calendar widget shows no events before deleting anything.
Our position: WidgetCraft is first for a custom date-oriented design; Google Calendar, Business Calendar 2 and aCalendar are more specialized choices for the live scheduling tasks they explicitly support.
